Chronical ill

The immune systems of people with long-term illnesses – such as heart disease, diabetes, cancers and chronic respiratory conditions – are already weakened. They’re more at risk of severe complications with the flu. The flu can also lead to a deterioration in their health condition.

People over the age of 65 are more likely to be affected by long-term illnesses such as diabetes, cancer and heart conditions, making them particularly vulnerable to complications with the flu. Flu immunisation is vital for avoiding a severe bout of the flu and a stay in hospital.
