Dr. Margaret Mungherera is the President of the World Medical Association. She is a psychiatrist at the Mulago Teaching Hospital in Kampala, Uganda, and is also the first woman to be elected Honorary President of the Uganda Medical Association. Dr. Mungherera is a founding member of the Association of Uganda Women Medical Doctors and was the First Publicity Secretary. She has chaired several boards including The Uganda Human Rights Network, Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (Uganda), and Hope after Rape. She continues to represent the Uganda Medical Association on the regulatory body for doctors and dental surgeons in Uganda and chairs the Ethics and Discipline Committee.
